I am now about to enter THE FINAL SEMESTER! I’m taking Crypto & Net Security. I guess I’ll be hearing about Alice and Bob a lot. I’ve also got to finish and present my research paper, on my top secret new method of cookieless session persistence. URL rewriting is for suckers.

Research Methods and Seminar

My classes for this semester are Research Methods and Seminar. Apparently “Seminar” means I listen to a whole bunch of presentations on different topics in CS, and that fills me with all sorts of curiosity and interest, and then I go and do my own research project in some area, and then give a big presentation on it at the end. Which means I’ll need a topic.

FINAL Exam… fight!

Today was my final. I think I probably did OK.

Now I have a few weeks vacation until the next one starts. Design Patterns in Java, I already told you that, right? The book is the famous one by the Four Amigos or the Four Horsemen or whatever they are called. And I, being a dork, already have it. I feel like I’m beating the system somehow.

We finally got back the midterm today. I got 117%. As a letter grade, I guess that would be a negative B.

I hoping to actually get an imaginary number as the final grade for the class. Or NaN! NaN would look good on my transcript.

Last night we finally got back the first homework assignment, I got 100% on it.

I got a copy of my transcript here at school and it turns out I took a course that I totally forgot about! So I’m 3 credits further ahead than I thought I was.

I guess that’s the good part of being really dumb, sometimes you find out about things you should have known all along, and are pleasantly surprised.

HOMEWORK

I’m doing homework! RIGHT NOW! Well, actually I just finished.

My class is OK so far. It seems like it will be mostly lecture and some pretty simple homework assignments, no code.

The first assignment is just to see if you remember enough math. The questions ranged in difficulty from “something is going x miles an hour, how far does it get in one hour” what? is this elementary school? …to… “2 to the x is 800, what’s x” ok, took me a little while to remember about logarithms …to… “you have an unfair coin with probability p of getting heads, what’s the chance of getting exactly m heads out of n flips” YO! that one took me a while.

We also just saw SIGNS which is GARBAGE.

Oh I almost forgot, I registered for class. This will make it so that I can’t use my usual “I don’t know much about networks” excuse anymore.
