There seem to be 五花八門 – Wu3 Hua1 Ba1 Men2 – Five Flower Eight Door – All Kinds Of, Myriad expressions involving numbers in Chinese, and for some cosmic reason, they usually include the number eight. Why? And where’s the canonical list?

  2. I AM BRAND NEW TO YOUR WEB SITE AND KNOW VERY LITTLE ABOUT MANDARIN. THE CHARACTERS YOU SHOW, ARE THEY TRADITIONAL OR SIMPLIFIED?

ALSO, CAN YOU SOMEHOW INCLUDE A AUDIO PORTION THAT WOULD ALLOW US TO HEAR THE CORRECT PRONUNCIATION?

    THANK YOU.

  8. SORRY, NO. EVEN IF I HAD THE FILES, I WOULDN’T HAVE THE BANDWIDTH TO OFFER THEM.

I SUPPOSE IF YOU WERE TO PROVIDE THE FILES, AND HOST THEM ON A RELIABLE SERVER, I COULD CERTAINLY LINK TO THEM FROM EACH DAY’S ENTRY!
