  2. Business folks argue that “opportunity” connotes an opening in time, and thus good thing. Business people use the word “opportunity” to euphamistically describe when something is supremely messed up. For example, this comes right from the Performance Review handbook:

    [Manager]: Bill, we should meet offline next week to discuss leveraging your strengths and capitalizing on any opportunities I observed for the coming year.

    There is a reason why business-speak is abbreviated, BS.
