Chinese Word of the Day

- Li4 - Chestnut

花栗鼠 - Hua1 Li4 Shu3 - Flower Chestnut Rat — Chipmunk

Watching some show on TV, we learned that chipmunks “are” squirrels, and we finally figured out that the holes that have been appearing in our lawn are probably made by chipmunks. I think we have voles too, Jenny’s seen tiny things scurrying that look like the soot sprites from Totoro.

AH, Voles! Not bad, kinda cute. Some friends for Rabbit Rabbit and Hey Meow-Mi! I like how easily Hey Meow-Mi can be written in English.

I’m not sure Hey Meow-Mi and the voles are exactly friends. Maybe that’s why that cat comes to our yard so much, because it’s fertile hunting ground.

I swear I’ve seen Rabbit Rabbit, Hey Meow-Mi, and the Voles having a tea party in your back yard. That’s what cute little animals do when they think no one’s watching. Well, that and plot. Always plotting.
