Jenny’s been playing this tactical RPG Disgaea, which features these penguins. They say “DOOOOD!” all the time. She started the game with three but deleted one of them, much to Walde’s horror, since they play an important part in the story or something.

The game reaches amazing new depths of time-wasting. Instead of merely being able to spend hours looking at what the shop has for sale, and deciding which weapons would suit which characters the best, you can actually spend DAYS and WEEKS improving each individual weapon by battling little monsters that live inside them, and then rearranging them between weapons.

Best Metafilter thread ever! Endless stories of EXTREMELY stupid things MeFi-ites did as children. Home made napalm, shooting arrows straight up, putting things on railroad tracks, gasoline wars, rock rights, BB gun fights, roman candle fights, bicycle jousting (try to jam a stick into your opponent’s front wheel, flipping them over), all manner of bombmaking, setting off bullets by smashing them with rocks, even trying to sneak INTO East Berlin, you know, as a joke.

Perl 2004 Advent Calendar! Which has become a messy-78 yearly tradition.

By the way I should also mention that this weblog is now over two years old. I’m not sure if that’s old enough to make me cool yet.
