Chinese Word of the Day

- Shu4 - Lenient, Benevolent, Reciprocity

Is there a single word which can serve as a rule of practice for your whole life? According to Confucius, yes! And that word is , which serves as shorthand for the Golden Rule: What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others.

I think there is supposed to be some significance behind the negative wording of the golden rule. Like that’s a Confucius trademark element. That’s why Jesus and Confucius hate each other cuz Jesus was all “Do unto others and you would have them do unto you” and Confucius was all “What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others”. Then Jesus was like “That’s it!!!” and totally flipped the table and they kicked each other’s asses.
