Tonight we watched this movie, 三更 2 – San1 Geng1 2. 三 means Three, and I really don’t know what 更 means in this context. But I do know that in English, the movie is called Three… Extremes. And it was 非常 bad.

  4. Really? Midnight as in 12:00 AM? Or more like “middle of the night”? Jenny told me about this expression 半夜三更 which means “in the depth of night” but we still weren’t sure exactly what the means.

  6. long time ago, 更 was kind of unit for counting the time in the night.
a night is divided to five 更s. one 更 is two hours.
三更 is 12 o’clock in the midnight or just midnight.
    got it? ^__^
