Cate: Chinese Word of the Day

宿

宿 – Su4 – Stay the Night, Lodging

宿舍 – Su4 She4 – Lodging Residence — Dormitory

When Jenny and her sisters are speaking in Chinese, I have a knack for asking “what did that mean?” at just the wrong time, when they were saying something they don’t want me to understand. 宿舍 was the expression I didn’t recognize tonight, and I asked Judy what it meant. She wouldn’t tell me. I asked Jenny. She wouldn’t tell me either! This expression must be really good!

Now it’s word of the day time and Jenny knows that she has to either tell me what this one means, or I’ll be here another half hour thinking of something different for word of the day, so she told me! But by now I’ve forgotten the context so I don’t understand why 宿舍 is word forbidden.
