  2. I\’m usually not into jewelry or ornate things, but I do have a softspot for woodcraft with mother of pearl inlays. Laquered boxes with MoP inlays are very common in Vietnamese craft.

  4. Mother of Pearl is also extensively used in Star Trek! Did you ever notice, in original trek, in the turbolifts there is a translucent rectangle on the wall, and you can see the floors whizzing by? It\’s made of a mother-of-pearl-ish material. One of the few nice touches of super dorky continuity in Enterprise is that they also use Mother of Pearl on the wall mounted communicators.
