班
班 – Ban1 – Group, Team, Squad, Work Shift
上班 – Shang4 Ban1 – Go to Work
And for some reason the translated title of the movie “Office Space” is 上班一條虫 – Shang4 Ban1 Yi1 Tiao2 Chong2 – Go to Work One Bug.

\”Go to Work One Bug\” looks strange. :)
I consider that \”上班一條虫\” should be part of one Chinese jargon \”上班一條虫,下班一條龍\”. It means someone is \”like a little bug while working, but like a powerful dragon\”, it\’s used to describe someone (such as me) is active in his leasures but lazy on works. Chinese often use \”bug\” as the metaphor of laziness.
班 means spots too. We call zebras as 斑馬 – horses with spots.

Thanks for explaining that! I was wondering if the title was based on some sort of expression, or idiom. I found that saying you mentioned on one web page, \”上班一條虫,下班一條龍\”, but I didn\’t understand what it meant.
