Tired: .NET / Wired: WinFX

Announcing the new-new-new WinFX! Available in 2006 maybe! (Are they really serious? They’re not going to release anything for the next three years?)

WinFX is to .NET as .NET is to DCOM as DCOM is to COM+ as COM+ is to COM as COM is to ActiveX as ActiveX is to OLE as…

In other news, the look and feel for their new OS appears to be some sort of “brushed metal” type appearance. I wonder where they got the idea for that? (Also interesting to note: Even in their super duper amazing space age year 2006 version of IE, there’s still no tabbed browsing. But they do plan to have popup blocking figured out by then. Go innovation!)

They’ve also invented XUL, except it’s called XAML.

  2. most dangerous, I followed the XAML link and almost got suckered into participating in a Microsoft online survey. My options were OK and Cancel, but I was about 90% sure It would launch when I hit cancel anyway, or even worse it would launch the C++ compiler, I hate when that happens (just about always). Luckily I was at least 90% wrong.

  4. Oh, I hate that one!

\”This page has a javascript error which you couldn\’t care less about.

Don\’t hit OK to not load the 500MB debugging environment just to highlight the line with the error (as if there\’s anything you can do about it). Hit Cancel to also load it.\”

  6. Dude this is complete crap. I just spent like hundreds of bucks on a giant stack of .NET books, and they\’ve already started talk of \”moving to the next big thing\”. I hate them.
