烏龜 - Wu1 Gui1 - Black Turtle — Tortoise
What’s the difference between turtle and tortoise? This is what the San Diego Zoo says: A tortoise lives only on land. A turtle lives near water. Is that also the difference between 龜 and 烏龜? Not so sure. It could also be that 龜 is a general turtle and 烏龜 is one that lives on land.
By the way, for some reason it’s really bad to call somebody a 烏龜. I’m not sure what the connotation is though.
Useless, huh? Maybe I’ll do an easier word tomorrow. But it’s a cool looking character, anyway.

the difference between 龜 and 烏龜 just like the difference between roach and cockroach.
another difference is, 龜 is the word for ancient writings. 烏龜 is more modern.
call somebody 烏龜 is ok, 烏龜 often called as a nickname. but call somebody 王八 is terrible.

Steve, thanks for posting these links to my new books. Please tell me: how did you find out about my books and how did you find the link? Are you in Taiwan or Japan or China or Cyberspace now? Wherever, Godspeed to you and yours and thanks for the PR support. My dream now is to bring these books to a global audience via translations in 25 countries, and first stop is Korea and Japan.
