龜 - Gui1 - Turtle
烏龜 - Wu1 Gui1 - Black Turtle — Tortoise
What’s the difference between turtle and tortoise? This is what the San Diego Zoo says: A tortoise lives only on land. A turtle lives near water. Is that also the difference between 龜 and 烏龜? Not so sure. It could also be that 龜 is a general turtle and 烏龜 is one that lives on land.
By the way, for some reason it’s really bad to call somebody a 烏龜. I’m not sure what the connotation is though.
Useless, huh? Maybe I’ll do an easier word tomorrow. But it’s a cool looking character, anyway.

isis
the difference between 龜 and 烏龜 just like the difference between roach and cockroach.
another difference is, 龜 is the word for ancient writings. 烏龜 is more modern.
call somebody 烏龜 is ok, 烏龜 often called as a nickname. but call somebody 王八 is terrible.

丹布隆的新書
我們的朋友—旅居嘉義的丹布隆(Dan Bloom)最近一口氣推出兩本新作《愛的守護天使》(My guardian angel taught me where to look for love,譯為中文應該是「教導我哪裡可以尋找到愛的守護天使」)以及《小孩眼中的世界》(In the eyes of a child, it\’s never too late to begin again,在小孩的眼中,要一切重來從不會太晚 ,中文書名似乎都將原本的書名截去了一半),上個星期六在台北蘇荷兒童美術館舉了了新書發表會。剛剛看到丹他將新書發表會的相關新聞以Comment的方式貼了上來,不過似乎貼在比較不相關的地方,我在寫完這一篇weblog之後,會將丹的comment移到這一篇文章下。
