I was looking for nice hairless guinea pig sites guess this isent one they make perfect pets no wonder no one has put any comments you must be the only one who agrees with your self.

I do get lots and lots of people searching for \”skinny pigs\” at Google and other search engines ending up here. I was wondering how long it would be before people start posting comments defending them.

Do their eyes glow red in real life, or only in pictures? Cause that would really help take the edge off.

I can relate to your story…only because my husband hates rats and anything that resembles one…myself,I do admit to keeping one as a pet when I was younger..and I now own a guinea pig(2 actually), but I\’ll have to mention the rattery thing to him…perhaps even threaten to open a fancy rats rattery when he pisses me off!!!(kidding thats just plain mean,considering I think he\’s more terrified of them rather than just a dislike)…..ANYHOW..your site made me laugh! i just stumbled on your page and if you enjoy guiena pigs at all, skinny pigs are no different . They just are hariless and require more heat ( therefore, cannot just be put in a standard wire cage) they are affectionate and loving. Full of character and very enjoyable.

To be honest the whole \’hairless\’ thing is deeply disturbing. Ye gads they\’re ugly, and they\’re spreading to Australia. Oh, and there is no way these blights could have personalities!! I have a pet skinny pig, and I totally love it. It’s awful how you make fun of these animals just because you don’t like how they look. You are simply a mean and cruel person. Maddie is right! You are a mean and HEARTLESS person. Skinny pigs are excellent pets and anyone who ever bothered to get to know one would realize that. I guess that this would be too much of a bother for you, even though you seem to have plenty of time to make pointless websites like this one.
Google searches would also be much easier for those of us who DO have to work under time limits if the internet wasn’t cluttered with websites like this one that show up under searches but are far from what anyone really needs. They are certainly a big waste of my time.

I came to this website to get information on skinny pigs, because i have one and he is adorable. We have allergies in our family and it’s nice to be able to owna pet that didn’t make you sick. I am very disscusted by the way people have left their impression on this website. People come to this site for information because they are pet lovers and are commited to caring for thier pets to great lengths. Our skinny pig is fantastic, he is VERY social, loves to be cuddled by the family and even gives kisses when he’s happy to see you, ( which is usually right when we walk through the door). They have wonderful personalities (perhaps better then some of you), and are always willig to be loved by their owners. At first sight they may not be pleasing to the eye, because well..they have no hair, but thats what make them soo unique and lovable. Please remenber children read this site!

As I said before,I own 2 guinea pigs..and love them. I am sure that a skinny pig is just as sweet and adorable as the haired variety,although…they are a little “odd” (using a nice word),,to look at. I understand why people are offended, but in Steve’s defence(although I don’t know the guy)..I’m thinking it’s all in fun…like another reader said…he’s not wishing to torture the little baldies!
I mean really….they are a bit shocking to look at,especially for someone who doesn’t own one! I do love them though…my two pigs are long-haired and high maitenance…sometimes I wish they were bald!!! Their hair grows WAY to fast!

We’re about to have our first litter of skinnies. I’m terribly excited. :-D Their father is a nicely marked TSW skinny boar. And their mom hates being pregnant.

Last week, our american sow, bred to our skinny boar, had her babies–three were born, two died, no skinnies :-(. The surviving boar is a skinny carrier and a very nice golden agouti.

Skinnies are a great change from working with texels. They’re a lot easier to take care of, and seem to do everything in life at twice-normal speed. It’s just too bad that they’re not a standard in the US at ACBA shows, so we have to make the trip to Ontario, Canada, if we show them.

Skinny Pigs do not have red eyes in real life - only in photos (nothing that a little ‘red-eye reduction’ can’t fix) They are not rats, they just don’t have the metabolism or ADHD characteristics of rats or hamsters. They have excellent personalities and are great pets, especially in a classroom setting because of all the allergies out there. The kids love them and so do I.

I’ve had a skinny just short of three years. I have also had plenty of other pets, including the two chihuahuas and fish I still have. No pet in my life has given me the pleasure, nor created such an abundance of love within me, as my skinny did. Skinny died two nites ago from what was suspected as a brain tumor or absess. The vet could do nothing, so we brought him home for his last few days to be with us, people who loved him dearly. I love my skinny and it has broken my heart that he is gone. Skinny taught me what it truly meant to love an animal, and I am a better person for it. I love you skinny. g-bye for now, my beloved sweet.

HAIRLESS SKINNY GUINEA PIGS/CAVIES: Perfect in every way. Their lack of hair makes them rare/awesome, they are cleaner/smell less, they dont shed, they are sweeties (love to cuddle more for warmth) and they in my opinion have funner personalitys! Anyone who is not cool with the way they look…frankly, is SUPERFICIAL!
CARE REQUIRMENTS: buy a large cage from guineapigcages.com OR cavycages.com , feed them water, Timothy Hay, Vitamin C Tablets and Parsley, minimal pellets (timothy hay based).
For Other Living Things is a cool store…forotherlivingthings.com
Give them hides, hidey houses, or boxs.
They need companionship from another guinea pig…Keep them in same sex pairs or small groups…Neutered male & Neutered male, Neutered male & not spayed female, or FEMALE & FEMALE (best pairing & they do NOT need to be spayed).
Get a vet…In case they get sick!
The best advice I can give from experience and others experiences: STUDY STUDY STUDY. RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH. Before you get them as pets! (before you get any animals as pets for that matter) better safe than sorry.

1 or 2 guinea pigs need at least a minimum of 30″ x 50″ cage.
3 guinea pigs need at least a minimum of 30″ x 62″ cage.
4 guinea pigs need at least a minimum of 30″ x 76″ cage.
Timothy Hay is a total MUST!
Vitamin C Tablets are o.k. but Fresh Vegetables are TOTALLY preferable. Parsley is a favorite (full of vitamin C) Kale and Red Bell Peppers rock too.
Guinea pigs need indoor floor time too for exercize…give them alot of space to run around but keep them safe. safety first.

I would get a pink skinny pig, and then take him to a tatoo parlour and get a really cool ink job done on him, like flames or a skull. This all would be done under anesthesia of course, oh man..actually i would get mutliple skinny pigs, and one would definantly have his back in a green turtle shell pattern. These inked skinny bigs would revolutionize the pet industry (have they already just in you reading this?)!! By the way, could i feasibly tatoo a black skinned guinea pig with white ink? is there white ink? ALso, patterns seen from the top would look cool on large full grown skinny pigs, like an intricate sun or a hawaiian flower design!!
