燈
燈 – Deng1 – Lamp, Light
This is what happens when I ask Jenny what the word of the day is. Right as I asked her she was thinking that the lighting in our living room is wrong, so she says “燈”. Now I have nothing interesting to say about it.

Research Methods and Seminar
My classes for this semester are Research Methods and Seminar. Apparently “Seminar” means I listen to a whole bunch of presentations on different topics in CS, and that fills me with all sorts of curiosity and interest, and then I go and do my own research project in some area, and then give a big presentation on it at the end. Which means I’ll need a topic.

I just like how this one looks.
凳
凳 – Deng4 – Stool, Bench
I assembled one of these today. Jenny says what I put together, a normal wooden park type bench, is really called 長板凳 – Chang2 Ban3 Deng4 – Long Wood Bench.
A 凳 can also be used as a weapon, especially if you know Black Tiger Kung Fu. They can use anything as a weapon. It’s real useful, very good.
