  4. I know! I tried to call them yesterday: \”Due to the blaster worm, we are experiencing extremely high call volumes. All of our agents are currently busy. Please call back later. This call will be disconnected.\” And it hung up on me! Then I called back \”later\”, navigated through 5 levels of phone menus, and finally arrived at a message saying their office is closed.

  6. Very scary when you\’re talking to the PHONE COMPANY and you tell them your number, with area code 203, and they ask you if that\’s in California.

  8. HA!

Step 1. Call 877 SBC DSL5, which is my local DSL support number.

    Step 2. Navigate phone menus.

    Step 3. Wait forever.

Step 4. Somebody finally comes on. Tell them I just moved, my DSL is not working in my new house. Tell them I\’ve previously requested that it be moved.

Step 5. Tell them my number, which starts with 203.

Step 6. They say, \”is that in California?\”

Step 7. Tell them no, that that is in North Haven, CT.

Step 8. They say they\’ll transfer me to somebody who can help.

    Step 9. Wait forever.

Step 10. Somebody comes on. Tell them my situation.

Step 11. They say, \”What city is that number in?\”

    Step 12. North Haven, CT

Step 13 (the punchline): They say that this is the support center for California, they don\’t know why I\’m calling there, because my local support number is 877 SBC DSL5.

  10. After being transferred to California again, on my third call I took a different route through the phone tree and got somebody who could help me. She claimed she did see my order in the system, but it isn\’t due to be hooked up until September 9th! So in the mean time I\’m going to see if I can get dial-up to work. I\’m told I can use the same username/password that I\’ve been using for DSL. And if you believe that…

  12. makes a peerson thankful for COX, who even in their startup days was a little more responsive, but in the first month(s) I had problems galore.

  14. And you think you got problems…..buy a DELL computer – go thru all
the above steps – 87 times for a total of 96 hours telling them the
“new computer” didn’t work “out of the box” – get stalled for 5 months,
(of course the return predvilge has expired) and it still don’t work.
A “threat” don’t work but my state Attorney General say he will look
into it….he has 55 cases pending for people that thought to file
a complaint…..time will tell!! As for BELL…..been there, done
that….gave up and went to COX….don’t like them but I can
raise Hell locally when I get ticked!!! ANYONE ever file with the
FCC – that works real well, if your willing to take 6 months waiting
for them to do “it”….last time it cost AT&T several thousand when
    I got “even” finally….
