針
針 – Zhen1 – Needle
灸 – Jiu3 – Moxibustion (more) (more)
針灸 – Zhen1 Jiu3 – Accupuncture
Accupuncture is called 針灸 but neither Jenny nor Yvonne knew what 灸 meant, so I looked it up. I guess over the years the focus shifted to the 針 part of 針灸. But, 灸 is still practiced. When I told Jenny what moxibustion was, she said “oooooooohhhh” and said her Uncle, who does “regular accupuncture”, does that too.

I think 灸 means use a herb \”Artemisia indica Willd\” ash and burn it to warm or to cure with smoke.
the mild things 針 can\’t do well, 灸 will.
REPLY))
According to those sources I linked, the herb used is Mugwort, also known as Artemesia Vulgaris.
REPLY))
well, I\’m not very sure…..but what we used in Taiwan is Artemisia indica Willd, mixed with some other Artemesia herb.
The name \”艾草\” is more common than \”艾蒿( mugwort)\”,we used 艾草 in chinese zong zi holiday(端午節)to ward off evils.
As to Arthmesia Vulgaris, which we called 北艾, was considered from Europe and not local species. But I think it is used also for 艾灸 now.

May I ask you a question?
I know nothing about PHP, would you please tell me how to add \”target=_blank\” here—-> print \” \” . fof_render_feed_link($row) . \”\”;
thanks.
REPLY))
Sure. That function \’fof_render_feed_link()\’ is in init.php, at line 118. You\’ll need to change it from
$s = \”<b><a href=\\\”$link\\\” title=\\\”$description\\\”>$title</a></b> \”;
to
$s = \”<b><a href=\\\”$link\\\” title=\\\”$description\\\” target=\\\”_blank\\\”>$title</a></b> \”;
