New hairdo? I’M SOLD!

Geekism

This article is a preview of upcoming major changes to the show Enterprise. The producers have decided the show is too boring, so this is their plan to revive it:

In the final episode of this season, space aliens come to earth and 9/11 like half the planet. Enterprise is called home and retrofitted for total war. They then set off for the mysterious sector of the galaxy where the aliens live. If you enter this area, the Delphic Expanse, your body turns inside out. That’s what it says! Oh, one more thing, T’Pau is getting a new hairdo and “sexy catsuit”. That’ll save the show.

The best part is all the trekkies on that site trying to reconcile Enterprise’s trashing of the continutity and timeline of the Trek universe. The damage apparently is so bad the best theory that they can come up with is that the whole series is a dream or maybe takes place in an alternate universe.

(Alternate Trek universe that is. Star Trek already CLEARLY takes place in a different universe from our own, since right now we should be recovering from the Eugenics wars, and the Botany Bay should be well on its way.)

Chinese Word of the Day

- She2 - Tongue

Today is Tongue Twister Day!

Of course, in Chinese, they aren’t called Tongue Twisters, instead they are 繞口令 - Rao1 Kou3 Ling1 - Circle Mouth Sayings.

For more, see this 100% totally sweet page of Chinese tongue twisters which is part of a larger absolutely impossibly ultimately cool Chinese language site. They have all these different topics and different games you can play, and always let you click to listen to phrases being said by several different speakers. The Pinyin page is especially useful, you can use it to figure out that Shi4 is actually pronounced Shi4.

US Air Traffic Animation

Regular

Swarm

Click for an animation of the air traffic over the US on a typical day. There’s way way way more traffic than you think there is. (4500 planes in the air at the peak.) You can clearly see the east coast wake up and start flying at about 7 in the morning and then the west coast do the same 4 hours later.
